The game was planned to be announced at E3 2007 (July 11-13) and later at E3 2008 (July 15-17), but both presentations were dropped due to the game's state (2007) and internal issues (2008). The game was to be published by LucasArts for the PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS.
Star Wars: Battlefront III was meant to be the third (fifth if spin-offs are included) Star Wars: Battlefront game, and the third one to not be developed by Pandemic Studios.
